Alphabetical index of all 51 states and territories, linking to their county-level food access pages.

Methodology

This directory lists every U.S. state and territory in the USDA Food Access Research Atlas coverage area. Each state page aggregates tract-level USDA low-access designations up to the county level, and then rolls those county results up to state averages. County counts reflect Census Bureau geographies; food access figures reflect USDA tract classifications joined to those county boundaries.

When the same state appears in both USDA and Census releases from different vintages, we prefer the most recent USDA Food Access Research Atlas release paired with the matching Census ACS 5-Year Estimate. State-level averages displayed here are simple means across counties; population-weighted aggregates appear on individual state pages where noted.
